Gehlbach of Baylor University,
will speak on "The Natural His-
- tory of the United States-Mexican Border." Dr. Gehlbach is
an outstanding biologist and
a noted ornithologist. Please
come and bring a birding friend.
Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 & 30, 1985:
Ornithology Group Field Trip:
Birding Brazos Bend State Park,
'■■' in Ft. Bend County, with option
al overnight camping and Owl
Prowl. Leaders are Bob Honig
and Don Richardson. This trip
will be an exciting junket to
every birder's favorite state
park during the height of the
fall migration. We think it will
be so entertaining that we are
calling it the "Bob and Don
Show." The OG has reserved 12
sites, room for 24 tents. Send
your $3 to Peter Vennema if you
plan to camp Friday night. Don
will be at the park around noon
Friday. Birding is scheduled
for Friday afternoon, night and
Saturday morning. To reach the
park, take US 59 South from
Houston. After crossing the Brazos River, exit Crabb River Rd.
and follow park signs. (from
US 59 you will first be on FM
2759, then FM 762; if you reach
the end of FM 762 at FM 1462,
you have gone about 1 mile past
the park.) There is a $2 entrance fee per car in addition
to the camping fee.
MINUTES OF OG MEETING
OCTOBER 3, 1985
The meeting was called to order
at 7:30 p.m. by Stennie Meadours.
Maxine Davis stated that she
receives many requests for information
about the OG. Stennie thanked her for
the valuable service she provides for
Gene Heitzman, Field Trip Chairman, reminded everyone that the Oct.
19th field trip to Bolivar Flats will
be led by David Dauphin and Ted Eubanks.
Meet on the Bolivar side of the ferry
at 7:00 a.m.
Libby Price has completed the
Martha Henschen will take requests for items from the Chickadee and
will bring them to the meetings. Please
call Martha at the Chickadee if you have
Jim Morgan gave an outstanding
program on hawk identification.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:00.
