MEET AT 1:00 PM in the 40-Acre Lake parking lot which is nearest the road. This trip will last until about 9:00 PM, so bring supper. To reach Brazos Bend take Hwy 59 south, exit Crabb River Rd., turn left and proceed about 14 miles to the park. (FM 2759 becomes FM 762. ) The park is on the left and the entrance fee is $ 2.00. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Tom Prusa, Manager of Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge, needs volunteers to assist him in these areas of birding: 1 . All birders who visit Attwater are requested to report their bird sightings, including location for rare or unusual sightings, to the office so that they can keep their "Bird Watch" board and map up to date. 2. Tour leaders for groups visiting during booming months of February, March and April are needed. Leaders should be able to answer questions about the prairie chickens, the refuge and other wildlife on the refuge. 3. General wildlife census workers are needed to perform a routine bird count along a route developed by the refuge at approximately one-week intervals and more frequently, if possible, during migration. We need to give this wonderful refuge our support in any way we can. For more information contact Tom Prusa at (409) 234-3021, 7:30AM-4:00PM weekdays or write to him at P.O. Box 518, Eagle Lake TX 77434. ALUMINUM The Ornithology Group makes about $200 per year on aluminum cans, so remember to save your cans and bring them to the meetings. Be aware, however, that all Pepsi products come in steel cans which are unacceptable. Thanks for your support. NOTICE The Ornithology Group January meeting will be held at the usual time and place on TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 1987.
