Transcript I as Hbas October 4, 1952 TO: All Ornithologists - Professional and Amateur By way of introduction, this letterhead represents the official bulletin of the Ornithology Group<> Outdoor Nature Club, Houston, Texas0 It has been long realized by many individuals that there is much to be done concerning legislation looking toward the advancement of conservation of the bird life in Texas0 It is further recognized that only by the concerted effort of all bird lovers in the State can this be accomplished0 It seems, therefore, that in order to obtain complete cooperation there should be a state wide organizationQ Such a movement has been effected in other states with gratifying resultso In those states where such an organization exists^, it has had an additional advantage of enlisting more groups in bird study, in disseminating interesting local information to all groups^ and in fostering a closer acquaintance ship among those individuals who have a common hobbyc It should result, also, in the advancement of scientific knowledge of the bird life in Texas0 Should you, or any group with whom you may be associated, be interested in the formation of such a society, your cooperation shall be greatly appreciatedo If you concur in the principle of this project, your suggestions are solicited concerning the manner and means to perfect the organization0 It is recognized that a central location would be desirable for an initial meeting and, for that reason, your suggestions concerning a meeting place, a planning chairman for initial arrangements, and general procedure are of utmost importance0 This letter is a project of this Group in an attempt to test the sentiment in various parts of the State for a State Ornithological Society0 You are invited and urged to express your thoughts on this subject0 &C*/V VK ChaSo Ho McNeese Chairman 2916 Revere Houston 6, Texas
