Transcript The Spoonbill A Publication of the Ornithology Group Of the Houston Outdoor Nature Club March 2003 Vol. 52 No. 3 April Program Birds of the Davis Mountains April's OG Program will be a presentation by Kelly B. Bryan on the Birds of the Davis Mountains. Kelly will discuss the habitats and uniqueness of the birds of this beautiful area of the Lone Star State. Many of these birds were seen on last year's OG Summer Trip to the Davis Mountains, where Kelly was our guide. Kelly B. Bryan is from Mart, Texas, near Waco. He went to Sam Houston State University and graduated with a Master's degree in Ornithology. During his time there he determined that there was a geographical uniformity in the songs of the Protho- notary Warbler. It is a landmark study. His interest in bird songs and calls led Sam Houston State University to form a Library of Bird Songs which now houses thousands of bird calls and songs. Kelly has been park Superintendent at Kickapoo State Park and Ft Davis State Park. Before retiring from Texas Parks & Wildlife in June of 2002, he was Natural Resources Coordinator for West Texas. Kelly has been living in Ft Davis since 1993 and has birded extensively in the Trans-Pecos region. Over the years, he has written or contributed to various articles about birding in Texas for TPWD and The Texas Orni- 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003 Bayland Community Center 6400 Bissonnet Learning Corner 6:30 David Bradford Bring your field guides.
