present some slides on Africa, and members are urged to bring slides for
the monthly Show and Tell.
OG meeting, 7:30 p.m. at Bayou Manor audltolrum. This meeting will be
a seminar on shorebirds, by Ben Feltner, so bring your field guide and a
notebook and pencil, for you wljI want to take notes. This is a good
chance for all of us, but especially for you fairly new birders, to
learn +he diagnostic marks this experienced birding tour leader uses
In Identifying our wintering shorebirds. Be sure to bring your collected
0G field trip to At+wa+er Prairie Chicken NWR a+ Eagle Lake. Meet a+
Refuge headquarters a+ 7:30 a.m. Leaders will be Wayne Shlfflett, manager
of the refuge, and Ben Fel+ner. For you who have not been there before, c
west on 1-10 to Sealy, turn left on Hwy 36, go to FM 3013, turn right,
entrance to refuge Is approximately 12-15 miles on right.
ONC's first back packing trip, sponsored by the Photography Group, led
by Aaron S+oley. You will be going +o the Four No+ch Area of Sam Hous+on
National Forest, covering a distance of 8 miles. To get to the meeting
place, take I-45 to New Waverly, turn right on FM 1375, northeast dlrectlo
proceed to deadend Junction with FM 2693, turn left, proceed for 5 miles
to meeting with Aaron. Plan on being at that point at 11:00 a.m., and
allow approximately 1 1/2 hours to get there. If you want to go, contact
