Ovenbird - Austin, et al December 15, 1991
Slightly larger than nearby Uilson's Uarbler.
Actively feeding in underbrush and on the ground. Small
bird with warbler type bill. Brownish on back. Uhite on
the front with heavy black streaks. The throat was white
and unstreaked. A wide tan/brown central crown stripe was
bordered on each side by a narrow black line. A bold
white eye ring was seen.
Western Tanager - Austin, et al December 15, 1991
Slightly smaller than American Robin. Bill was
heavy with bright pink lower mandible. The throat was
bright orangish red and the rest of underparts were dark
yellow. The face was yellow with a hint of eyering.
Crown was bright olive slightly brighter than plain olive
back. Wings were gray with two yellow wingbars. The
upper was wider and brighter. Rump was yellowish green,
definitely paler than the back. Tail was gray, short and

Observed with mixed flock of warblers, titmice,
etc. Frontal view: Breast and belly plain tan; head
brown with central tan crown stripe. Fairly bold malar
stripe; cheek patch was bold and well defined from the
rest of the side of the head; nape was light gray. Back
was typical Spizella but with no rufous tones. Tail was
fairly long and notched.
Henslow's Sparrow - Chuck Sexton, Greg Lasley, et al.
December 15-16, 1991
Documentation submitted by both observers listed
above. Photos taken. A big-headed sparrow with distinct
greenish-yellow head, flat head, rich brown wings, dark
striped back, buffy wash on breast and sides, lightly
streaked on sides. Slight eye ring. Face had crisp dark
eye line, dark border on auricular and dark whisker mark.
Northern Oriole (Bullock's) - Taroni, et al December 15,
Orange head and breast; light charcoal wings with
2 wing bars. Black line through the eye; dark cap; long
pointed bill, lower mandible light, upper mandible dark;
white belly; light marigold undertail coverts; dark tail.
