Transcript Page 9 COMMENT FROM THE CLEARING HOUSE EDITOR Revision and publication of the 6th edition of "A Birder's Checklist of the Upper Texas Coast" Is proceeding apace. The aim of T. Ben Feltner and Noel PettingelI, compilers, Is to make this edition even more helpful to birders, If possible, than their excellent 5th Edition/October 1974. The Clearing House is a prime source of data used by them In ensuring the accuracy of distribution and occurrence of birds shown in the Checklist. Also, the Clearing House provides Information for readers of the SPOONBILL as to where certain species may be found currently. Exact locations are not published In each Instance, but interested birders can contact the reporting observer for directions. Many contributors to the CH help give a good picture of what Is being seen on the upper Texas coast each month. To help ensure the accuracy of Information in the CH, and to keep the time spent by the CH Editor in compiling each month's CH from being burdensome, certain guidelines have been set up. The last time these were published was March, 1977, and a revision Is being published this month. This policy of report Ing observations to the CH will be found at the end of this issue. If you don't keep your SPOONBILLS, we urge you to remove the page of CH policy and keep It with your birding books for future reference when making up your reports. CLEARING HOUSE.
