NEW EDITOR FOR THE SPOONBILLS Since the present Editor of the SPOONBILL will enter the University of Tanas this fall in order to major in soology and minor in botany, he will be unable to continue the enjoyable task of editing the SPOONBILL. Beginning with the October issue, the Editor of the SPOONBILL will be Trevor Ben Feltner. Trevor is known to most members of the Ornithology Group through his active field work. His nesting census, at the Navigation district near Jacinto City during the summer of 1959 yielded much valuable data and resulted in a new nesting record for the area (Ruddy Duek). His excellent reports on migration last spring received well deserved attention in Audubon Field Notes. Spring Migration Report. He has sent in numerous articles to the SPOONBILL aad we have all enjoyed his talent for writing and for humor* Trevor is a serious birder; he keeps careful notes, records numbers and reads extensively. He is the kind of observer Mr. Aaron M. Bagg was referring to when he said in his Audubon Field Nqteso Sjamar.'L-Pf-.the Spring Migration Season. "It is good to find so many observers thinking about what birds gg—not just what they are!" It is hoped that all members will send in reports on their birding to Trevor. His address is: Trevor B. Feltner, 10309 Lane Street, Houston 29, Texas. DEADLINE FOR OCTOBER ISSUE: OCTOBER 6TH. CHEERS FOR OUR CHAIRMAN,, JERRY B. STRICKLING - reported by thelma a. smith On August 17, Jerry Strickling brought credit to himself and the OG's by his fine tali on BIRD WATCHING before the Texaco Woman's Club at their noontime meeting in the new Texaco Inc. building. As a member of their program committee, I had been asked if I could get a speaker who would explain briefly the "bho, what, when, where, how and why* of our hobby. A large orderj But Jerry did just that in a very well organized and exceptionally well presented half-hour talk. In faot he wowed them. Slides by Noma. Gates, the Henry Hoffmans and Jerry, himself, illustrated the second portion of his presentation and added to the effectiveness of the program. Hip, Hip, Hip, Hurrah for Jerry. I nominate him fer the Soreen Tour Circuit.
