Co-ed.) M.pf:i Letter from Jerry and Nancy Strickliag— October 11, 1966 "On Sept. 18, 1966 at Anahuac Na±io__-_Wi__-_iffi Refuge..at 2s30 PM, Nancy and I had a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER.*£l don't suppose we should really be too surprised to find this bird in the fall if we look at a map. It nests in the Pacific Northwest. It winters commonly about 200 miles south of Brownsville in Mexico on the Gulf side of the Sierra Madras Oceideatalis". A bird would need only stray a few degrees East of a direct migration course to be here. Ia fact, I imagine we could find Townsend's Warblers rather regularly in the fall if we looked more.closely. John O'Neill reported a Hermit Warbler near Laredo last fall - a similar case of nesting and wintering ranges as the Townsend's, "Oa October 1, 1966 we found _ 300 Wood Storks in'Anahuae bounty 10 miles west of Winnie, There are long, long and old rumors of this bird nesting around her^'.
