Jim, In his re-cap of birding during 1977 In the UTC, stated the Long-tailed was new to the area, and the editor didn't catch the error. We were quickly reminded that Hazel Nichols found a Long-tailed Jaeger November 28, 1971 at Rollover Pass during the TOS meeting In Galveston. "It was seen next day by everyone, photographed by many, and Is considered the 1st documented Texas record (see Checklist of the Birds of Texas, p.34-35, and Oberholser's The Bird Life of Texas, p.376). Photos appeared In American Birds and elsewhere." (It is also listed on the Vagrant/Migrant page of our checklist. —Ed.)
