Transcript "U The Spoonbill A Publication of the Ornithology Group Of the Houston Outdoor Nature Club June/July 2002 Vol. 51 No. 5 Chairman's Message A Preview of the Coming OG Year Welcome to a new season of OG meetings and good birding over the next ten months. Planning for this coming season is almost complete. The lineup of speakers is interesting and should provide a variety of topics of interest to birders and other people interested in nature. There will be a weekend field trip each month at various local birding spots, and again this year we plan to have two leaders on each trip. We have planned three weekend trips, one per quarter. Two of these trips will be to places we have not traveled before, while the third will be to the Rio Grand Valley since it was such a popular trip the last several years. All in all, it looks like a very interesting and active year for members of the Ornithology Group of the Outdoor Nature Club. Again mis year David Bradford will present the Learning Corner before our regularly scheduled meetings. Many of you have been to David's Learning Corner the past two years and know that David is able to make even the most basic of birding topics interesting and enlightening for beginning and advanced birders alike. I hope to get a chance to sit in on David's sessions myself this season. I am including a schedule of events as planned to date (see p. 3). Most of the programs Continued on page 2 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 5 Bayiand Community Center 6400 Bissonnet No Learning Corner in August Preview of Next Month's Program For the Love of Birds September 9 Kevin Karlson, birder and wildlife photographer, presents a reflection on what the future holds for birds and birders.
