Transcript | / • I' tX3E3 IMPORTANT' J I I Letter No. 3 Houston, Texas January 17, 1953 TO ALL INTERESTED ORNITHOLOGISTS: After much discussion, correspondence and meetings, it has been decided to hold a meeting in Austin, Texas on February 14, 1953 for the purpose of perfecting an organization of Texas ornithologists. We plan to meet in the afternoon, not later than three o*clocko The Commodore Perry Hotel has offered to furnish a meeting place for us and we can get down to business right away so that those who would like to return home that night may do so. Those who choose to spend the night in Austin may like to have dinner together and spend the evening just visiting. It is planned to have some bylaws ready for action by the group. These are to be based upon those already in existence and used by societies similar to the one we expect to organize. Be prepared to offer any suggestions This letter is being sent to each locality where there is interest in ornithology,, We cannot send a letter to each individual as our mailing list is limited. Therefore, we are asking the recipient of this letter to contact all those of their community who might be interested in attending. We certainly shall appreciate your cooperation in making this initial meeting a good one. When you have ascertained the number who expect to attend this meeting, will you please notify Mr. Everett T. Dawson, Walton State Building, Austin, Texas, so that he can make the necessary arrangements for your reservations, if you expect to spend the night there? He has kindly consented to do that. We hope you will have in mind certain individuate whom you should like to have for officers of the society. That will be important. Our thought here is that the president should be someone connected with ornithology in a professional way. Above all, don't forget the date - February 14, 1953, at J>%00 P. M0, Commodore Perry Hotel, Austin, Texas. Help put this over in a big way. Sincerely i Chas. Ho McNeese Chairman, Ornithology Group, Houston, Texas \ ^x 2916 Revere Street * / |
