It does not matter how hairy or spiny * •they are or how well protected by webs. The • •webworm is a destructive pest on certain trees* *but few birds will eat it, however the destruc* *tion of this insect is a habitual practice for* *the cuekoo. In a single stomach of this spec-* *ies there were 325 larvae. (Exit 8 at Woodbridge off the Gulf Freeway) The migrants are already coming in so we may get some surprizes. September 8 Regular monthly meeting of the Outdoor Nature Club. Mr. G. R. Walton will speak on "Development and conservation of natural resources on the Gulf Coast of Texas." > September 12 Outdoor Nature Club Field Trip to Bolivar Peninsula, led by Hance Cunningham. The trip will be September 27 ORNITHOLOGY GROUP Field Trip to be led by Armand Yramategui. This is a sort of repeat performance of the highly successful field trip of last year. Meet at the Post Office in Silsbee at 10 a. m. The party will go north out of Silsbee through the piney woods toward Woodville. October 13 Regular meeting of the Outdoor Nature Club. TEXAS Reported by I. F. Horlan As "Wagon Train" commander, Norma Oates led a caravan of fifteen cars (bursting with birders!) across the south plains of Galveston Island. This proved to be a most enjoyable and rewarding afternoon. Beginning at 6lst Street at the Freeway overpass, the group made its way to Stewart Road.
