The special feature of the meeting was listening to the wood thrush sing in the deep woods back of the Murray home. After a picnic supper on the patio overlooking the creek-bed where native plants and trees made a rustic background, the business meeting was held. The secretary-treasurer reported a deposit of ^123*50 in the City National Bank. To date, 39 members have paid their dues for the current year. Armand Yramategui made a general report of the results of the nesting census at the Little Thicket Nature Sanctuary on May 29th. Leota Stilwell announced a field trip to be held the afternoon of June 18th in the Juliff neighborhood on Almeda Road. It was voted to hold business meetings of the Ornithology Group on alternate months, so our future meetings this year will be held on the first Thursday in August, October and December. We will continue to hold field trips each month. Jimmy laiJtrray asked that Mrs. Jerry Baker and Leonard Hctthirter serve with him as a committee to decide if the Ornithology Group would participate in a program for the Outdoor Nature Club this year. Josiephine Wilkin gave out mimeographed copies of the new check lists of our local birds and asked that we try this form and report to her any suggestions we might have for improvement. It was reported that Mr. Irby Davis, Mr. Edgar Kincaid and Mr. Roger Tory Peterson have been in Mexico making a study of the birds of that county. Mr. Peterson is making preparations to publish a Field Guide to Mexican birds in addition to his Texas Field Guide. The pleasant meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
