OG Membership Meeting Minutes of January 8, 1991 The January meeting of the Ornithology Group began at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Richard Uzar first reminded everyone that beginning with the February 4th meeting all OG meetings would be held on the first Monday of each month. He then asked for a report of the Learning Corner which was led by Don Richardson. This month's topic was "black birds" of the Upper Texas Coast. Arch Dillard gave the Treasurer's report and a presentation of the proposed budget for the coming year. He expressed his gratitude and deep admiration for the good work of Jerry Patrick in his capacity of Club Treasurer for the past three years. The budget was passed unanimously by the membership. Libby Price reminded everyone to save their aluminum cans and bring them to the meetings; it has proven to be a good source of income for the OG. Program Chairman Ed Rosenberg introduced the evening's speaker Carlos Hernandez. Carlos Hernandez is currently Chairman of the Photography Group of the Outdoor Nature Club. His topic was on birds and birding in Costa Rica. There are 856 known species of birds in Costa Rica. In addition to his talk he showed slides of his favorite birding areas in the country. Gretchen Mueller, Secretary The Chickadee Nature Store has given all its international and U.S. birding checklists and large-scale county (Harris and surrouiding counties) road maps to the Houston Audubon Society, which will make them available to all interested parties.
