MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2: Ornithology Group Meeting.
7:30 P.M. Harris County Bayland Community Center
located on the north-side of Bksonnet just west of Hillcroft.
OG member Jim Morgan will present a program about the
various color morpbs of Red-tailed Hawk. Currently a
member of the Texas Bird Records Committee and co-
compiler of the renowned Freeport Christmas Bird Count,
Jim has authored several articles for ornithological journals
and, in 1984, he and other birding friends documented two
new U.S. species, the Yucatan Vireo and the Greenish
Elaenia. Both records were accepted by the A.O.U. and the
A.BA. Jim is an expert on both raptors and field
identification so join us to learn more about this variable and
beautiful bird. Richard Uzar will present a discussion of
wintering ducks at the 7:00 P.M. Learning Corner.
FRLDAY^UNDAY, NOVEMBER 6-8: ONC Field Trip to
Nails Creek Unit of Lake Somerville State Park and Wildlife
Management Area. For the guided tour on Saturday, which
requires a TPWD Conservation Passport, meet at 9:00 A.M.
at park headquarters reached from the Burton exit off
Highway 290 west of Brenham. Passport is not required for
the adjacent Wildlife Management Area, which we will visit
Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. Bring lunch and a
dish for a Saturday night potluck -supper. For tour and

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18: OG Weekday Field Trip
to Bolivar Flats. We'll study assorted winter -shorebirds,
gulls and terns, and watch for possible Peregrine Falcons.
Meet trip leaders Gail Luckner and Winnie Burkett at the
parking area near the Flats at 8:00 A.M. The trip will
conclude around mid-morning. Bring water and insect

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21: OG Field Trip to Bear
Creek Park and West Harris County. We will look for
wintering ducks, geese, hawks and-sparrows. Meet our
leader at 8:00 A.M. in the parking lot near the jogging trail.
Take Highway 6 north from 1-10 west. Turn east onto Clay
Road. One-half mile on the right you will -see a parking
area near the jogging trail. Bring a -sack lunch.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 7: Ornithology Group Meeting.

"Galapagos: The Enchanted Islands."
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9: OG Weekday Field Trip
to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge. Our December
weekday field trip will visit the Anahuac Refuge and
-surrounding areas to -study winter waterfowl. Waterfowl
expert Buddy Hollk will lead this trip. Meet Buddy at the
-sign-in-station at the Anahuac Refuge at 8:00 A.M. The trip
will conclude in late morning. Bring water and insect

OPEN HOUSE HOURS AT BRAZORIA NATIONAL
WILDLIFE REFUGE will be extended during the period of
November 7, 1992 through the end of March 1993. The
refuge will open at -sunrise (about 7:00 A.M. instead of the
usual 8:00 A.M.). The refuge will close at 5:00 P.M. as
usual. Open House at the refuge is the first full weekend of
