Transcript The Spoonbill A Publication of the Ornithology Group Of the Houston Outdoor Nature Club April/May 2002 Vol. 51 No. 4 Chairman's Message Looking Back on the Year As we enter the two months with no Ornithology Group (OG) meetings, I am looking back over this past 10 months of activities. I like what I see. I believe that the OG has made some strong strides in many areas that make our organization better than it was last year at this time. Our membership has increased about 10% over last year and our meetings regularly have a higher attendance than in previous years. Much of this improvement is due to the dedicated individuals who worked hard to accomplish these results. The Spoonbill was published and distributed regularly and contained both interesting articles and important information. Mary Pat Haddican deserves our thanks for editing The Spoonbill and making sure things got done in time for deadlines to be met. As an ex-editor of several newsletters, I know the amount of work necessary to get out a regular newsletter, as well as the frustration that comes with meeting deadlines that depend upon many people. Along with this, thanks are also due to David Sarkozi for compiling the checklist for publication, a task that receives little recognition, but which is a vital effort that has been part of OG's history for a long time. Don Richardson's Field Tips and Beginning Birding articles provided both enjoyment and education.
