Saturday State Park to look for summer
breeding birds, led by Kelly
Bryan. Meet at park headqtrs.
at 8:00 a.m. for a half-day
trip, lunch optional, bring
insect repellent. There will
be a half hour walk - bring
appropriate footgear for some
muddy areas and some standing
water. Take 1-45 north to

Canoe Trip - June 10,1984
Casey Ridge River Tours is
offering all day canoe trip on June 10,
Sunday on the East Fork River in the
New Caney area. Bob Daigle, a member of
the Piney Woods Wildlife Society, will
lead the trip looking for birds, plants
and wildlife. The $25 fee includes
canoe, food and drink. For more information call Bob Daigle at 689-5457.

Meeting of May 3, 1984
The meeting was called to order
by Ron Braun in the absence of the chairman who was greatly missed. The treasury
has a balance of $5,758. The last field
trip will be to Huntsville State Park on
June 2. Reports were given on the many
rare birds in the area and pictures of
the Yucatan Vireo were presented by Ted
Volunteers are needed for the
next year's activities. Specifically,
a publisher is needed for The Spoonbill
and the librarian job is vacant.
Certificates were given to those
who contributed their time and effort
toward OG activities during the past year.
David Matson presented the program on his
recent trip to Peru.
While preparing a thank you list
and certificates, I decided not to provide
certificates for the elected officers of
the OG. I have since decided that I made
an error in judgment. My thanks are extended to Wes Cureton, vice chairman;
Linda Walsh, treasurer; and Joe Kennedy,
secretary. I shall see that appropriate
certificates are prepared and forwarded
to these hard working folks.
