Uings appearing glossy jet black with a strong green glossy color on upper sections. Upper legs rich chestnut. Facial skin appearing dark gray or black encircled by bright but narrow blue-white line, broken behind eye. No white feathering anywhere on head. Mississippi Kite - J. Whittle May 23 ans 25, 1994 Brazos Bend State Park from observation tower. Typical kite with triangular, but slightly notched tail typical of most kites. Upper view showed medium gray except of lighter gray head and uhite secondaries. On the underside, the appearance was a uniform lighter gray, with a somewhat darker tail and primaries. Marbled God-it ■ J. Whittle May 22, 1994 Bolivar Flats. Typical godwit shape and size. Buffy brown with black mottling above, barring below. Cinnamon wing linings and on primaries. Long, slightly upturned bill, dark toward tip, pink at the base. Ten birds. Short-hilled Dowitcher - J. Uhittle May 22, 1994 About 20 birds. Typical dowitcher. The birds were all in basic plumage. Equal width black and white bars on tail. Call heard from three birds. Bill long, but not so long as to suggest they must be Long-billed Dowitchers. Glaucous Gull - K. Nanney May 2, 1994 Bolivar Flats. A very large, robust, almost pure creamy white gull. The only mottling apparent was a few somewhat darker feathers on the back which may have been the first "adult" pale gray mantle feather emerging. The targe bill was pink or flesh colored with a sharply defined black tip. The iris was dark (brown?). The legs were pink or flesh. In flight the bird was virtually pure white including the primaries and the tail feathers. 23 photos submitted to TBRC. Limited description and photographs (to TBRC) submitted for Glaucous Gull at Bolivar Flats by A. wormington. Observation on Hay 5-6, 1994. Documentation submitted for Glaucous Gull at Bolivar Flats by J. Uhittle. Observation on May 22, 1994. Hermit Uarbler - G. Williams May 1, 1994 Galveston Island. Netted at a banding station. Photographs of a male Hermit Uarbler in the hand were submitted along with following description. Uarbler with a bright golden-yellow head with no markings other than jet black eye. Back was gray with olive/black streaking and a greenish yellow rump. Dark beak and gray legs. Dark black bib did not extend as far as the Black-throated Green of Golden-cheeked Uarbler. Speckled black feathers nape extended onto the crown of the head. Two white wing bars. Documentation was also submitted for Brewsters warbler (banded) by B. Massey. Observed May 2, 1994. Documentation was submitted for Eurasian Collared Dove by M. Austin.
