They led the trip on April 1 & 2 of this year and we hope that they will lead all future trips to this ar'ea. They are most capable leaders, good birders and just fine folk! We are sorry they did not receive due recognition in the account of the trip carried in the April, 1967 Spoonbill. This was inadvertently omitted in typing. SOOTY TERN in GALVESTOH by Norma Oates Mrs. Charles Baker, Ruth Moorman, and Norma Oates discovered a. Sooty Tern in the grassy area along Seawall Blvd. about a half mile west of 61st Street on April 23, 1967, The left wing was drooping and, at first, we thought it had a broken wing since it did not attempt to fly. I decided to photograph the tern, and while I was taking pictures, the tern stretched both, wings high into the air, took a few steps, and flew away toward the beach. Three views of the tern were photographed at close range showing all black upper parts except white forehead and white along upper edge of wing; underparts were all white. Another interesting, bird seen in Galveston on this date was a White-winged Dove perched in a dead tree at the old house on 13-mile road. DON'T FORGET!!
