November 12 (Tuesday) Regular ONC meeting. Houston Garden Center, 1500 Hermann Dr., 8:00 PM. Program, "Rex I. Brasher, Painter of Birds" by Charles W. Hamilton. November 14 (Thursday) Audubon Wildlife Film "Nature's Plants and Puzzles" by Chester P. Lyons. Lamar High School Auditorium, 8:00 PM. November 16 (Saturday) ONC field trip to the Little Thicket Nature Sanctuary. Mrs. Everett B. Lewis, leader. November 23-24 (weekend) Overnight trip to the big thicket. A challenge area to find an Ivory-billed Woodpecker. Meet Saturday morning at 9 at the courthouse in Livingstone and bird to Woodville, including stop at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation. Two motels in Woodville are the Willis Motel (tel. BU 3-2222) and the Community Inn due to be completed Nov. 15. Sunday cover the Kountze-Silsbee area and back to Houston via Cleveland or Liberty. Co-leaders are Noel Pettingell and Joe Farrell. December 5 (Thursday) Regular OG meeting, Downtown Recreation Center, 7:30 PM..Program, "Birding in Mexico", Norma Oates. December 28 (Saturday) Houston Christmas Count, Dr. David Marrack, leader. See article below. January 26 (Sunday) OG field trip. A long overdue visit to Palmetto State Park is in store for us. Excellent sparrow habitat as well as the elusive Fox Sparrow, plus other good winter birds. Meet at the entrance of the park at 9:30 AM. Take hiway 90 18 miles past Waelder to hiway 183. Turn south 2 miles to the park, or, take hiway 90A to Gonzales and turn north on 183 12 miles to the park. Josiephine Wilkin will lead the trip.
