Allen * ******************** PUBLISHED BY THE ORNITHOLOGY GROUP, OUTDOOR NATURE CLUB, HOUSTON, TEXAS FORTHCOMING EVENTS May 26 (Sunday) 0. G. Field Trip. Boat trip to Vingt-un Islands for nesting Spoonbills led by Thelma Smith. Meet at the Vin-tun-un (sic) Grocery in Smith Point at 9s45 AM. The fee for the boat will be $1.50 per person. One boat, Ramble, carries 40 passengers. One other boat with space for 10 people is available if the larger one is oversubscribed. If you intend to go, call Thelma (>>|o 5-iS^i) for reservations. Please do not reserve a place unless you are sure you can make it. Smith Point is approximately 80 miles from Houston and requires about 2 hours if you don't bird on the way. The most direct route is east on Interstate 10 to State Hiway 61, south on 61 to Farm Road 562 and continue south on 562 to Smith Point. The trip will take about 3 hours; about 1 hour each way to and from the islands and 1 hour at the islands. The boats will return to Smith Point in time for lunch. June 6 (Thursday) 0. G.
