ANAHUAC REFUGE; UPPER TEXAS COAST GEM by Levy Davis The October 0. G. Field Trip was led by Russ Clapper on a tour of Anahuac Refuge. Anahuac has achieved ornithological fame for its nesting Masked Duoks and wintering Yellow Rails. But these are only two stars in a galaxy of wildlife to be found there. The refuge is the winter home and sanctuary of many species of duoks and five (5) species of geese. Taking advantage of the safety, the Ruddy Duck and Blue-winged Teal have begun to breed on the Gulf Coast again.
