Transcript Page 7 here too--they of course are with us all year. We heard the first Upland Plover passing over the latter part of July and enjoy hearing them late afternoons now. Some Baltimore Orioles were here one morning last week, but our Orchard Orioles that nest here every summer (and raise a young Cowblrd or two) havs left. The Chuck-will's-widows have gone too, but our beloved Poor-wlils (we call them "Paul Abbots" from what their call sounds to us) are still here and serenade us, A doe and two small fawns stay near-by. All of them and the beautiful buck.will come when the hunting season opens. The whole herd stayed close to us last year. The jack rabbits, squirrels and cottontails are in the yard often feeding together--a pair of Roadrunners too. Mrs. Jack Hagar - September 17, 1957 - Rockport, Texas Today I am all excited; a Cattle Egret is feeding in the Tule, a pool on Highway 35 near town, and hummingbirds are migrating - Black- chinned, Ruby-throated, Rufous, Anna's, and Broad-tailed. ******* ******* ****** OFF THE PRESS The Saturday Evening Post - September 14, 1957 Eight pages of this magazine were devoted to the wonderful color plates of western birds taken by Don Bleitz, the ingenous techinical personality who has devoted most of his life to bird photography. Following these pictures is an artlcal by Richard Thurelsen telling how the pictures were made. This is very worth while literature for every bird and photography student. ******************** NEW MEMBERS Mrs. H, 0, Watson, 6260 Burgoyne Road, Houston 27, Texas Miss Ada Sanders, 101 West Alabama, Houston 6, Texas, JA-2-4011 *****#*»**********#*** OFFICERS OF THE ORNITHOLOGY GROUP CHAIRMAN - Mr. C.
