Peter Ginn, director of Peter Ginn
Birding Safaris, is Zimbabwe's
foremost bird expert, with a long
list of bird books and many years
in the field to his credit. Peter, a
bom teacher and a colorful
speaker, makes sure a walk through
the bush with him is not just about
birds. It is also about rocks, trees,
conservation, weather and
Peter has authored
numerous books, the best known
of which is The Complete Book of
Southern African Birds. He is an
elected Associate of the Royal
Britain and a member of the
Ornithological Association of
Zimbabwe & Endangered Wildlife
Trust He lives in Mnarondra,
The Lear Parrot display in
the museum will be open for
private viewing by HAS/OG
members at 7:00 p.m. and
following Peter's talk.
Helping Hands Are
We need a Learning Corner
Coordinator to schedule the excellent
birders in our group for half-hour
sessions prior to each meeting,
November through May. A Program
Chairperson is needed to complete
this year's program schedule.
Speakers have been scheduled through
December and one possibly for
February. We need your good ideas
and ability. Call Bob Luckner today.

Weekday Field Trip to
NWR A half-day trip with
Winnie Burkett for early season
wintering birds. Meet at the
Visitor's Center, 8:00 a.m. If
weather and birds are good, you
may want to bring lunch as Winnie
can probably be encouraged to
continue birding beyond the
scheduled end of the trip at noon.
To reach the refuge, drive west on
I-10toSealy. Turn south on 36
for one mile, then right on 3103
about 8.5 miles to the San Bernard
River crossing. The entrance to
Attwater is to the right about a
mile or so past the river. Note: Do
not expect to see Attwater's Prairie-
Chickens. Areas these endangered
birds frequent in the refuge are not
