Transcript SCARLET TANAGER - D. Muschalek October 10, 1993. Fall plumaged adult male feeding in live oaks at Smith Oaks. Bird was yellowish green with black wings and tail.. Large pale bill and sluggish movement noted. SCARLET TANAGER - B. Behrstock October 27, 1993. One female or possibly immature male. Bright yellow below, thick yellow bill, strongly contrasting brown wings and tail, no wing bars. Pecan woods just west of Sabine Pass. Also observed by T. Eubanks. Strong light. SEPTEMBER CN NOTES SNOU GOOSE - G. D. Luckner September 24, 1993 Approximately 200 Snow Geese observed flying in V-formation. Large, white geese with black primaries. The majority of the birds were white morph: a few blue morph were also present among the flock. OSPREY - G. D. Luckner September 5, 1993 At 9:30 a.m., ad adult female Osprey was seen from CR562 at Smith Point. The bird was perched on a utility pole. A large, crested, eagle-1 ike raptor, basically dark brown above and white below. Crest white, streaked with brown. Tail heavily banded. Judged a female based on dark breast streaking on otherwise white underparts, and adult by absence of buffy feather edges on upperparts. AMERICAN SUALLOU-TAILED KITE - G. D. Luckner September 24, 1993 Observed two adult kites soaring with five Mississippi Kites at Smith Point. Large black-and-white kites, noticeably larger than accompanying Mississippi Kites. Head and nape white. Remainder of upperparts, including wings, appeared entirely black.. Tail long and deeply forked; black above and below. Underparts white. Underwing coverts white; flight feathers black., Uhite head contrasting with dark wings visible from a great distance. Two adults seen at the same location by the same observed the following day.
