Clearing House, Clearing House Notes: Dirk Hagemeyer: "The Flicker is much more common than the UTC Check-list mentions, and Russ Clapper says that it nests in Chambers County. On June 8 and 9 and again on June 15 and 16 I have seen a Yellow-shafted Flicker along Highway 61 in Chambers County, and on the 15 and 16 a second Flicker also in Chambers County along 1085, east of Fred Abshier's place. Russ Clapper told me that a pair of Flickers are or have nested just south of Anahuac." Dirk also said that the "prettiest bird he saw was an Orchard Oriole feeding her young," - no location was given. - Dirk has been following the MASKED DUCK at Anahuac very closely and reports that he saw HIM on Sunday, July 14!I —flying as usual.
