Transcript VOLUME XXI, NO. 12 APRIL, 1973 PyBlilsHED BY THE ORNITHO_Lt?GTl?HWPT^t!--XJTlK' NATURE 1H-UBT HOUSTON, TKXAS MINUTES, REGULAR MEETING, ORNITHOLOGY GROUP, APRIL 5, 1973 Chairman Marilyn Crane called the meeting to order at 7:35 P.M. The Treasurer's Report, February 1, 1973 to March 31, 1973, showed total receipts of $37.58, disbursements of $52,59, and a balance of $350.80, and was accepted as read. Members were encouraged to bring their scrap aluminum to our meetings regularly. Margaret Jones announced that 46 members were present, and she introduced our three guests. Miss Crane welcomed our guests and invited them to join us. Motion was properly made, seconded and carried that the reading of the Minutes of the February Meeting, as corrected, be dispensed with, the Minutes having been printed in THE SPOONBILL. Our Chairman announced that the Annual Spring Picnic, usually held in June, had been scheduled for Sunday, May 6, at Mary Tigner's place in Dayton, Mary has invited us to come as early as we please and stay as late as we like. She will furnish drinks and dessert. Instructions on how to reach her place may be obtained from Marilyn Crane or found in THE SPOONBILL. It was reported that Mr, and Mrs. Paul Nimmons have been attending a number of meetings relative to Armand Bayou and were this evening attending such a meeting at Clear Lake. Ewall C, Bradley reported that he had talked with the President of the Chamber of Commerce, asking them if they would like to publish our checklist. The President said that if we would get him all the facts on how much it would cost and the number of copies to be printed, together with any other pertinent details, he would present the matter to the Chamber's Board. It was agreed that we would assemble the requested information, which Mr. Bradley would then forward to the President of the Chamber of Commerce. Attention was called to the article in the Houston POST on the recent oil spill in the Ship Channel, which featured the work Linda Snyder and others were doing to rescue oiled birds. It was agreed that OG would write the Parks & Wildlife Department to inquire if they had any plans or authority to aid in this rescue work in the future. Margaret Jones reported that OG had been invited to help identify the birds, their habitat and food supply along some nature trails to be constructed near Tomball. Additional details will be printed in THE SPOONBILL. Melba Drake relayed Dr. Pat Sullivan's donation of two prints of Audubon's cardinals, which were found among her mother's effects. It was decided to have the prints, which are quite old, appraised. If the prints are purchased, the money received will be donated to OG by Dr. Sullivan. Anyone interested in buying them should contact Melba.
