NOTES:
WHOOPING CRANE: Wayne Shifflett reports
that two radio-tagged second-year birds
flew over the Attwater Refuge on Oct. 31.
They were being tracked all the way from
Saskatchewan by two biologists. The birds
rested on a farm pond near Dallas on
Oct. 30 prior to making their overnight
stop about one-half mile east of the refuge.
This observation was the first authenticated
record of the Whooping Crane this far east
of its expected flight path.
Acadian Flycatcher: Gary Clark reports a
very greenish Empidonax flycatcher seen
in Jones Forest and carefully studied
■with binocs in good light at 50 feet. The
bird seen was at a place where the Acadian
Flycatcher nested this summer.
