Transcript | LIVING FDR YOUNG HDMEMAKERS ^pHE LIVING FOR YOUNG homemakers magazine parade J- home was designed specifically for year-'round indoor-outdoor living in the Southwest. Located at 5127 Jackwood, the "Living Conditioned" home was built by Bert Williams of the B. F. Williams Lumber Co. and designed cooperatively by Houston architect Harwood Taylor, and "Living" architects Bruno Funaro and Robert Engelbrecht. A contemporary design, it has an exterior or rough boards stained in smoke grey and treated with penta- chlorophenol. Dominant feature of the home is its four terraces which offer outdoor living from all sections of the house, including the kitchen. The living room has glass sliding doors opening on a large fenced-in area at the front of the house and the family room opens onto another patio on the side. This patio also serves the kitchen. The pullman type kitchen, a housewife's dream, opens off the family room. It is equipped with the new 1955 Frigidaire folding range, with four burners that fold out when in use and recessed into the splash board when not in use. It also has a Frigidaire oven, General Electric dishwasher and disposer. The house has General Electric air-conditioning, copper water lines, sloping ceilings throughout, and a built-up steel slag roof. It has a two-car garage with ample storage space and two ceramic tile baths. It is furnished, draped and carpeted by Foley's. Builder Bert Williams has been in the lumber and building business since 1935. A native of Newton, Texas, and graduate of the University of Texas, he has built in Bellaire, Robindell, Del Monte, Sharpstown, Meyerland and Memorial Drive area. Landscape Design by Fred Buxton B.
