Transcript PROGRAMMING As we mentioned in our first progress report, this year's programme will be somewhat different than those of previous years. We'll have some new topics for discussion — the neglected and little known classics of the genre, the art of collecting books, a World Fantasycon retrospective, and new mythologies — and perhaps a bit more emphasis on new faces, those who are just starting their careers and undoubtedly will play a large part in the future of fantastic literature and art. Again, we will have interviews with and readings by our guests of honour, and an entire track of programming devoted to readings by attending authors. We also are trying to arrange an evening of music, song and story-telling in as many traditions as we can muster. All in all, we hope to spice this tenth anniversary convention with a true international flavour. As of May 1st, the following professionals have indicated that they will be attending this year's convention: Terri Windling Mark Alan Arnold Robin McKinley Galad Elflandsson Marlene Y. Satter Katherine Eliska Kimbriel John Morressy Roy A. Squires Sterling E. Lanier Peter Berresford Ellis Nancy Springer David Morrell Joe Haldeman Barbara Doherty Harriet McDougal Carl Lundgren Donald M. Grant Stephen Gervais Dawn E. Wilson Susan Dexter Andrew Porter Sheldon Jaffery George Scithers Jill Bauman Robert Weinberg Charles N. Brown Stephen King Patricia C. Wrede Fritz Leiber Ira Thornhill Charles R. Saunders Victoria Poyser Beth Meacham David Cherry Tom Canty George R.R. Martin Valerie Smith Charles de Lint Donald Wollheim Elsie Wollheim Darrell Schweitzer Betsy Wollheim Gregory Ketter Ginjer Buchanan Gordon Deny Tabitha King Christopher Claremont Chris Zavisa W. Paul Ganley Janny Wurts Tom Doherty Robert Jordan Ellen Datlow Robert Weiner Greg Frost John M. Ford MUSIC FESTIVAL In keeping with the unusual talents of its attending members, the convention will be programming an evening's performance of music with emphasis on traditional ballads, neo-Celtic music and supernatural songs and storytelling. No filksongs, please. Performers wishing to be scheduled, please write Music Festival care of the convention address. Time, place, and Special Guest Artists to be announced. DAVID CRONENBERG FILM RETROSPECTIVE A retrospective of the films of Canadian director/writer David Cronenberg (THE BROOD, SCANNERS, and a recent recipient of the Genie Award for Best Director for VIDEODROME) will be presented as part of this year's programme. While it's still too
