Science Fiction Convention
October 25, 1979
565 Geary Street Apt. 604
San Francisco CA 94102
Dear Mr. Leiber,
We earnestly invite you to attend and enjoy Norwescon III,
to be held here in Seattle, March 28, 29 &30, 1980 at the Hyatt
House adjacent to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. We are
pleased to announce as our guest of honor, Alfred Bester; as our
fan guest of honor, a fellow by the name of Fred Pohl (who has of
late been lamenting that he has never been one); and as toastmaster,
Locus called last year's Norwescon "... one of the best re-
gionals of the past year with just the right combination of organization and zaniness..." Norwescon III already promises to throughly
eclipse its predecessor, yet without sacrificing the intimacy and
originality that are trademarks of Norwescons.
Norwescon is fast becoming known as the annual west coast
gathering of pros. Among the 2 8 writers and editors attending Norwescon II were Philip Jose Farmer, Damon Knight, Kate Wilhelm,
Vonda Mclntyre, John Varley, Dean Ing, Marta Randall, Elizabeth
Lynn, H. Warner Munn, Orson Scott Card, F.M. Busby, Wilmar Shiras,
J.F. Bone, John Shirley, David Hartwell and John Silbersack. Most
of our authors come back the next year, and we are currently projecting that 45 professional authors and editors will attend. We
sincerely hope that you will be one of the attending pros.
Norwescon offers free convention memberships for all authors,
editors and artists, and their families. We also feature photographs
and bibliographical blurbs in the program book, and we host the
best autograph, party ever.
Moreover, we have spared no expense in providing you with
America's most livable city, perfect for vacationing before or
after the convention. Seattle has everything - salt water, blue
lakes, evergreen forests and snow-capped mountains.
Please do come and share the Norwescon experience with us.
It's one you won't soon forget.
Whether you decide to participate in our tax-deductible
rite of spring or not, please return the attached response form in
the enclosed stamped envelope. For more information, call me collect
