Hoffman Price, published by Carcosa with the winner being The Enquiries of Dr Esterhazy, by Avram Davidson, published by Warner Books. The nominees for Special Award, Professional category were: Arkham House Willis Gonover L. Sprague DeCamp Donald Wollheim with the winner being Donald Grant. Grant is the publisher of some of the finest books in America. He is reponsible for the hardcover publication of most of Robert E. Howard's work, and he maintains an amazing level of quality. The nominees for Special Award, Non-Professional were: Gerry De La Ree Harry Morris George Scithers Roy Squires Robert Weinberg with the winner being Garcosa House. Carcosa is comprised of three people: David Drake, Jim Groce, and editor, Karl Edward Wagner. They have produced three books, all highly recommended. The nominees for best artist were: George Barr Steve Fabian Edward Gorey Tim Kirk with the winner being Frank Frazetta. So much has been said about Frazetta and his art that I will not say anything. The nominees for Life Achievment were: Ray Bradbury- Frank Belknap Long Manly Wade Wellman with the winner being Fritz Leiber. Leiber is an amazing writer, producing excellent science fiction, sword and sorcery, and horror fiction. In addition to two fantasy awards, he has received six Hugos and three Nebulas. 16
