Transcript | Peter Tremayne / It is the world of the very distant future. Our civilisation has collapsed and mankind is struggling to build a new one. David Dryden is a Twentieth Century man, a botanist, who goes through a form of cryogenic suspended animation and wakes up in this future world. He encounters three very different types of society in various stages of development, from feudal to totalitarian. ■ y / The way in which the author examines these new civilizations through Dryden's adventures, romances, and intrigues, lifts the work far above the normal Sword and Sorcery tale. As well as being pure escapist adventure, the three stories have a deeper, subtly unfolded meaning. We won't make the usual cliched comparisons with Tolkein: Lan-Kern is too individualistic for that. It could best be described as a modern rendering of the Celtic Odyssey, a work that can be read on several levels, each one thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking. Book I - The Fires of Lan-Kern 2% pages, to be published in October 1979, £5.25 Book II - Destroyers of Lan-Kern Autumn 1980 k_ Book III - Buccaneers of Lan-Kern ^^ Autumn 1981 Bailey Bros. & Swinfen Ltd.
