Transcript Dl/> ^L^'^^SC^ . s~-\ ^-\ r\ rt r*-^. Program Committee: Lynx Crowe Diana L. Paxson 90 El Camino Real Berkeley, CA 94705 (415)658-6033 ^*D{k <2& He!lo Out There-- Thanks to all of you who responded to our call for panelists for Westerchron this year. We've had an excellent response, and there are now over 60 names on our list of attending pros. Now. of course it's time for the next step— figuring out just what panels each of you will be on. Based on our interests, and yours, we've already put together a tentative list of panel topics, which is enclosed. Take a look at it-- in some cases there may be checkmarks by the panels already. These are panels we think might interest you. If you agree, please circle the checkmark (if you disagree, X it out). We would also like you to add some checks beside other panels that interest you (2 or 3), to give us a little more flexibility in scheduling. When you've done this, return the panel list to us in the enclosed envelope. We would appreciate it very much if you could do this right away. We will also need from you a one-paragraph biographical summary focusing on what you've written or done in the past, what you're working on now, and what's just been published or due out soon. If we don't get this information, you won't be described in the Biographical section of the Program Book. . . In accordance with standard convention practice, panelists will recieve free memberships. I have turned over our current list of participants to the convention secretary, and all of you should be getting progress reports and other materials soon. The meat of the information from the current progress report is as follows: Westerchron 36 will be held at the Red Lion Inn near the San Jose airport. Programming officially starts on Friday, July 1, 1983 and the last event is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, July 4th. Most panels will be scheduled between noon and 6 p.m. on one of those days. Most panels will be 45 minutes long, although a few main track panels may run 1^ hours, with short breaks between. With participant permission, we plan to videotape main track panels and repeat them later over hotel video channels so that you can watch your own panel, or see panels that you missed. There will be 3-5 speakers-on each panel, and panelists will be asked to meet in the Green Room beforehand so they can get to know each other, plan their strategy, and arrive together at the panel room. You should make your own hotel reservations-- a copy of the reservation form is enclosed. Be sure to specify that you are with the convention. Those of you who have volunteered for the Reading Program will be hearing from Paul Edwin Zimmer soon. Otherwise, your next communication from us should be a note telling you which panels you are scheduled for, and when, and you should get it some time in early June. We'll look forward to seeing you there!
