Transcript Fourth International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts March 24-27, 1983 2ND CALL FOR PAPERS Papers are solicited on more than 80 topics concerning the fantastic in Literature, Film, TV, Drama, Art, Architecture, Photography, Music, Philosophy. For the fourth consecutive year the Conference seeks to recognize, emphasize, and explore the great tradition of the fantastic in western literature and art, with particular attention to the growing use of fantastic elements in contemporary arts. The conference will mount about 75 sessions 6*f academic papers. Deadline for submissions is Feb. 1. Please send papers to the chairperson listed, indicate category, and include a 100-word abstract. Selected papers will be published by Greenwood Press. Special attention will be directed toward the film program in 83. Plans are underway to acquire current major film offerings for the conference and explore the possibility of a world premiere. The Author's Readings program will present 25 contemporary writers reading from works in progress. The fantastic expressions of several major artists will be displayed. The autograph session will again offer free copies of works by our featured guests. The book exhibit and market will return. Enrollment is limited, so aspiring authors who wish to share the expertise of our professional faculty — BRIAN W. ALDISS, HARLAN ELLISON, JAMES GUNN, KATE WILHELM, GENE WOLFE — must register early.
