Transcript SPECIFICATIONS FOR FIRE ESCAPES. Fire To extend from ground line to top of buildings and over Escapes cornice, onto roof. Ladder Side rails to be made of 2" x y8" flat iron 18" centre to centre. Rungs to be made of 5-8" gas pipe, with 1-2" bolt passing through same with nuts at each end. The rise to be 12" centre to centre of rungs. Every third rung to be securely fastened to walls by strong flat iron anchors. Floor Frame to be made of 1 1-4" x 3-8" flat iron 2" centre to or Plat- centre, securely rivetted and bolted together and to sills. lorm Sills to be made of 3-4" steel 1 beams or 3-4" steel tees, rivetted and bolted securely to frame and to brackets. Brackets to be made of 2 1-2" x 1-2" flat iron, rivetted and bolted together, with necessary braces to insure a strong and safe job. Railing To be made of 2" xi-4" flat iron, rivetted and bolted together and to frame and brackets ; also of i"x 1-4" basket work, or of any other design selected by owner and approved by City Engineer and Chief of the Fire Department. All iron work to receive one coat of good iron rust-proof paint before being sent to the premises, and onecoat after being set in place. All work to be the best of its respective kind and to be subject to the approval or rejection of the City Engineer and Chief of the Fire Department as to its safety and workmanship. G. M. LaNoue, C.
