Transcript FASHION ACADEMY 8 12 FIFTH AVENUE AT 62nd ST. ■ NEW YORK 2 1 EMIL ALVIN HAR'TMAN DIRECTOR • REGENT 7-Q23I-2 May 17, 1946 Miss June Williams, Editor The Houstonian, University of Houston Houston, Texas Dear Miss Williams: Although it was a difficult task, I was pleased to have the opportunity of choosing the ten Vanity Fair girls whom I considered to be the most attractive for the year 1946, from the photo- graphs submitted. I say that it was a difficult task because all of the contestants were lovely and very often much of the individual's beauty of coloring is lost in black and white photography. However, those that 1 did choose seemed unusually photogenic• In the case of the University of Houston, it seems that beauty and brains do go together. All of the young women whose photographs I looked at were representative of modern American womanhood healthy, wholesome, and naturally lovely. They all reflected intelligence as well as a knowledge of good grooming and understanding of how to make the most of their attributes. My congratulations and best wishes to the winners and to all who competed in the contest. With kind regards. Sincerely yours, Director FASHION ACADEMY
