Transcript OLE MISS. Houston, Dec. 20—Houston returned to the Coliseum to participate in one of the most thrilling games that arena has ever sheltered. The Cougars rallied fiercely to send the game into two overtimes against Mississippi and Don Sehverak sank a 15-foot jump shot to give UH a 63-62 victory. LIONS' HOLIDAY CLASSIC. Houston, Dec. 22 and 23—The Cats startled the basketball world in the first annual Lions Holiday Classic. UCLA, a team destined to advance to the NCAA semifinals, was no match for Houston in the first game as the Cougars romped to a 91-65 win. The next night UH rallied over defense- minded Auburn 54-49. Texas A&M, co-host for the affair, beat Auburn but lost to UCLA. ALL-COLLEGE TOURNEY. Oklahoma City, Dec. 26-29—Houston almost did it again in the All-College Tourney. The Cats rallied again to nip TCU in the first round, then edged highly regarded Utah State 51-46 to advance to the finals. There UH was beaten at its own defensive game by Bowling Green, a top ten team most of the year, 47-45. NORTH TEXAS. Denton, Jan. 3—North Texas St. threw up a pesky defense on its home court and stuck with the Cougars, until, with 13 minutes left in the second half, Lewis sent the team into its passing game. After that, Houston pulled away steadily to build a 57-44 victory margin. LOYOLA. New Orleans, Jan. 5—The Big Red converted 22 of 28 free throw attempts and used its sticky defense to edge Loyola of the South. Lyle Harger scored 22 points to lead UH to a 66-57 win. TULSA. Tulsa, Jan. 11—Houston's road show continued to rate rave notices as the Cougars took their fifth victory of six straight away games in Tulsa. A pressing defense stopped the Hurricane after it had taken an early lead into the second half and the Cats won 69-61. LAMAR TECH. Houston, Jan. 15—It was nice to be home again and the Big Red showed it at the expense of Lamar Tech. Harger tallied a career high of 30 points and the Cougars routed Tech 86-64. mWmmWmmWmmWmmSmW^ 'Reliable Lyle" Harger has the ball after fighting with a California Aggie for a rebound. 126
