Transcript 1999 2000 by Pin Lim Children and parents enjoy the festivities at the UH Charter School of Technology celebration as the school celebrated its third anivversary. • Not everyone has an opportunity to be in the spotlight, or they aren't given as much attention as other people or groups. Just because you didn't see yourself or your organization mentioned throughout the book, it doesn't mean that we forgot about you. Check this section out and see if we've got you covered, if not, do not blame the 2001 editor, because she is completely innocent. • In January, the UH Charter School of Technology celebrated its third anniversary. Students sang songs and buried a time capsule. What made the event even more special is that the parents' group, Alliance for Constructivist Education presented the school with a $10,000 check for its annual fund drive. • Alpha Kappa Delta Phi sorority celebrated 10 years of existence in February. The sorority established a chapter at UH in 1994 and has over 45 members. Members of Alpha Kappa Delta Phi also helped volunteer for the Vietnamese Tet Festival. The group also promotes breast cancer awareness and voting in the Houston Asian community. • In the fall, GLOBAL painted a rainbow of gay pride as they celebrated National Coming Out Week on the UH campus. Students, faculty and others participated in the event by giving speeches or just sitting with friends in support of the event. It was an eye-opener for some, but an interesting expenence for all. by Pete Medrano GLOBAL members came out in full force to support National Coming Out Week at UH. SPOTLJGHT • 337
