Transcript Lookln Along with all her accomplishments in her career at UH, Senior Kristen Schlatre continues to promisingly approach her upcoming graduation plans. Homecoming Candidate Kristen Schlatre serves on this years homecoming court due she has achieved at UH. o Future jf there is one time in life Kristen fSchlatre will hardly ever forget, jf that is May 2000. Memories most probably bring flashbacks of her graduation ceremony, dressed in her black gown and diploma in hand, a memory she wants to share with her parents in gratitude for their continuous support. Schlatre, 22, one of four children, a marketing major native from Louisiana residing in Houston since the age of two, describes herself as a very good planner, independent, responsible and trustworthy person, who likes being around people, talking to others, reading historical books and watching old black and white movies. She graduated from Humble High School, got the Cullen Leadership Scholarship, enrolled at the University of Houston in 1996 an d found out during her freshman year that pharmacy was not her passion. So she switched over to the Business College, got into marketing, not sure of what it was like, soon became enthusiastic with "the many different avenues that ,marketing has to offer," and focused on her career goals with commitment. She also saved time to share with the friends she met while living at the dorms for two years. In fact, during her four years at UH, Schlatre participated in various campus activities. She became very active in Greek Life through Delta Zeta Sorority, the honor society Omicron Delta Kappa, and the business organization Order of Omega, and as she describes it, she took more "ownership" of the University. Each organization, Schlatre believes, contributed to her enrichment. Her sorority helped her leam and improve her interpersonal and j leadership skills. Student Foundation, a group that works closely with the Alumni Organization at UH, enabled Schlatre to know what she wanted to do in the upcoming years. American Humantics, a program at UH for professionals in the social j work area, made her understand the application for her marketing degree in the non-profit sector and opened the door to an internship at the AIDS foundation where she was able to experience day to day work. "Now I am very sure Marketing is where I need to be, Schlatre said. • By Carolina Amengual up and ready For Homecoming '99 Delta Zeta's Kristen Schlatre, Roxanne Strother, Amy Sparks and May Perez-Pasten decorate the golf cart to show school spirit in the annual Homecoming Parade ii I am a different person from when I entered UH, I have grown a lot and feel more self confident.
