Transcript Striv in — , H tl/tf iu Towards Goals arm wfmfmnmnmmri ed sophomore Bill Kelly has made quite a name for himself at UH. He started from the bottom and worked his way to the top in just a year. Dreams Sophomore Bill Kelly has accomplished many goals this past year within the university, and continues to excel in other areas. Kelly, sophomore political science major from Wichita "alls, is a prime example of a self-made leader. Since he first stepped foot on University of Houston soil, he has taken charge of and re-established different organizations on campus. Kelly is currently president of his fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon. He worked his way to the top after being initiated only a year earlier. As all fraternities and sororities tend to offer, Sigma Phi Epsilon provided Kelly with incredible time-management and organizational skills. "My interpersonal 'real world' relations have drastically improved. I feel more confident to approach and speak in front of people," Kelly said. Above all, Kelly has gained many friendships at UH, not only through Sigma Phi Epsilon, but within the campus as a whole. Aside from his prior responsibilities to school and his fraternity, he is also Honors College Senator, has helped re-establish the Bleacher Creatures, is very active in UH Ambassadors, College Democrats and Student Foundation, and he has a job at the Honors College in the National Merit Recruiting Department. "Being Senator of the Honors College is a real privilege, because I represent a highly motivated group of students at UH," Kelly said. Kelly has been involved in student government since high school. After having much success in being president of a honor society and winning the Texas State Informative Speaker award, Kelly decided that student government was his passion. Currently, he is running unopposed for Vice President of the Student Body. "University of Houston is such a good school, and I just want to leave my mark here somehow, and maybe give back a portion of what it has offered me," Kelly said. In the Future, Kelly's plans are to attend law school, possibly at UT Austin, and attempt to begin his career in politics. His initial plan is to head back home to Wichita Falls and start his congressional campaign, hopefully leading to governor of Texas. In the odds that all Kelly's dreams and goals are achieved, eventually he'll be president. • By Amanda Yates Smart Talk While workiing in ie Honors College recruiting department, Sophomore Bill Kelly talks to a student about the benefits of the University. 318 • PEOPLE ii This university has given me experience at both learning and leading, and I hope I can leave It a better place than when I found It. }} Seeking Democracy In a meeting with the dean of the Honors College Ted Estess, Senator Sophomore Bill Kelly discuss their future plans. ^^^ n Mm BJLL KELLY • 319
