Transcript Making up Despite her ea season injury, Michelle Denomme continues to support her team on the road to recovery both on and off the field. for Keeping in Touch Before returning for the fa semester at University of Houston,Michelle Denomme (right) spends quality time with the friend she knows she won't see until the semester ends. los Time The saying "you just can't hold a good guy down" holds truth for senior soccer player Michelle Denomme. Despite her injury, she has kept a positive and supportive spirit for her teammates. The Canadian native tore her ACL on Oct. 3 while playing a home game against Southern Mississippi. Since then, she has acted as the team's emotional support. "You set goals before you go into a season, and it's just one of those things you don't accept," Denomme said. She attends therapy every day for three hours. Her workout includes rehabilitation exercises and working with free weights. "At this point, the injury was very devastating because it ended my college career," Denomme said. Soccer began to interest her at age seven, but it wasn't until age 14 that she began to play at a higher level for her high school providence for a Canadian National team in Ontario. Before she became a Cougar, she played in the Big 12 Championship and attended the University of Nebraska for two years. As a Cougar, her soccer position is goal keeper, and her overall state percent; before her injury was .837, onlji allowing one goal in six conference] games. She has received numerous awards, such as the Conference USA Second Team award, but claims that the Defensive Player of the Week, whicl she has received three times, and tht UH MVP 1998 award mean the mo* to her. Denomme has not considered making soccer a professional career Instead, she is more concerned witt rehabilitation, and she would be interested in coaching and sponsoring goal keeping clinics.
