To meet that demand 107.5 The Buzz, a local radio station in Houston decided to hold a concert with a variety of alternative music bands. This event became known as Buzzfest. The Buzzfest 2000 was held in the Woodlands at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Houstonians crammed into the pavilion to watch 14 groups perform. This year the line-up happened to be all male per formers, but it didn't matter what gender they were, just as long as they could perform. Some of the groups that happened to be performing at Buzzfest 2000 included Lit, the Flys and Stroke 9. These bands are relatively new and Buzzfest 2000 had hoped to give them a little more exposure. The 10-hour show also included such headliners as Oleander and Third Eye Blind. According to many Buzzfest-goers and various concert reviewers, Third Eye Blind seem to be the group to steal the show, or at least put on a performance that was worthy of the Buzzfest 2000. One memorable moment of Buzzfest was when Stephen Jenkins the lead singer for Third Eye Blind took control of the chaos in the pit and got the crowd under control. The show continued and Buzzfest-goers were content with their 10 hours of music and performances. Next years Buzzfest is already in the works and promises to be even better than the last. • by Linda Canales owv FacH The actual Buzzfest, created by 107.5 the Buzz, is held outside of Houston in the Woodlands. Buzzfest-goers are not allowed to bring food or drinks in the pavilion for the 10-hour show. This does not sit well with concert fans. THE BUZZ FESTIVAL • 289
