After trailing by 28 points, Houston scored 148 points on the tournament's final day to run away with the team title. UH finished the meet with 165 points to win the tournament. UH head coach Leroy Burrell was named the men's and women's C- USA Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year and Robert Foster, who won the 200 meters in a time of 20.85 seconds, was named the C-USA Men's Indoor and Outdoor Freshman-of-the-Year. Junior Greg Christie automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.05 seconds and finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.09 seconds. Jeff Mueller set a meet p record and won the high jump with 7 feet, 3 inches. Karim Alston won his fourth straight 800-meter outdoor title with a time of 1:52.26. Alston also ran the anchor leg and team with Anthony Authorlee, Malik Belgrave and Christie to win the 4x400 meter relay as they equaled their season-best time of 3:07.78. UH's 4x100 meter relay team finished second in 40.13 seconds and Mike Brookins was second in the pole vault with a mark of 15 feet, 11 inches. Will Blackburn finished second in the men's discus with a throw of 168 feet, 7 inches. Mike Olague finished third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:35.36. Adonis Coles was fourth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.20 seconds and Sean Clayton was fourth in the triple jump with a wind-aided leap of 49 feet, 7 inches.
