Photo hy Ann Richter OFFICE SPACE Various groups have their own space in Campus Activities. Photo hy Ann Richter As many organizations know it's not always easy to get started and then develop into an organization that UH students will want to join. Not to worry, the Department of Campus Activities has it all under control. Campus Activities was created with the purpose of getting students more involved in organizations and the University of Houston. The staff of Campus Activities works with various organizations on campus to make sure that they are developing into groups that students can enjoy and develop social skills that will benefit them outside of the University. Another part of Campus Activities duties is to help organization leaders develop their leadership skills. To do this, Campus Activities provides leadership training workshops. One workshop is the Leadership Challenge, which is a one day seminar held in the fall and the spring in order to help students develop into leaders. Another activity is the Leadership Luncheon Series which is held monthly. During the luncheon topics on leadership development are discussed in hopes that student leaders will learn something new to help develop their organization. Some of the organizations in which Campus Activities works directly with are Council of Ethnic Organizations, Frontier Fiesta Association, Student Program Board and many many more. Along with helping student organization leaders develop leadership skills, Campus Activities also helps student organizations understand University policies. Campus Activities also makes sure that student organizations understand how funding works and what organizations are responsible for as members of the UH community. Campus Activities provides a place for organizations to develop their potential and become a permanent fixture of the University of Houston campus. • by Linda Canales REST & RELAXATION GATEWAY BUSY BEE Many organizations walk through Nicole Rede, secretary for Student the entrance of Campus Activities program Board, busily works in her in order to get work done.
