SA members were then able to develop a better understanding of how the university system operates. Another guest speaker who attended an SA meeting was UH Police Department Lt. Malcom Davis. Student s* Association He gave senators helpful advice about what to do in case of an emergency. He also explained why it is important for students to contact the UHPD for transportation after hours. Financial Aid Enrollment Manager Ed Apocada also attended a meeting to address issues such as check delays, visiting the Financial Aid Office more than once and finding out the amount of money students are entitled to receive. General Manager of the UH Bookstore in the University Center, Darren Crooms, explained to senators about the implementation of a system that makes it easier for students to order books that are not in the bookstore. He also explained how students can then receive their books in three to five days. Cassidy said they need people who are willing to give up their social and academic activities to attend meetings. While some students may see governing positions as a popularity contest, SA sees the position as a mark of dedication. Cassidy's interest is to put together a group of students who wish to make the University of Houston a better place. "The Students' Association is for students, so voice your opinions.
