Transcript bu/de/n/b ^R) vbe/l& STORIES THAT MADE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON HISTORY ,^\\tm ' hese are just ^~§/<>i some of the sto- V_y ries that made campus headlines. Campus resident assaulted in dorm Just before the beginning of the fall 1999 semester, UH students were in a panic over an alledged sexual assault of a female student living in the Quad. A sketch of the man who supposedly pushed his way into the student's dorm room was released around campus and a search began. One male UH student was suspected, but was found to be clear of all charges. Robertson faces impeachment Student Government Association President James Robertson was facing six impeachment charges at the end of the spring semester. Two of these charges included misallocation of SGA funds and attempts to dismiss the SGA directors of finance and public relations, a power not granted to the president by the Constitution. SGA Executive Cabinet members and members of the Internal Affairs Committee were still investigating the charges after Houstonian deadline. TKE separates from UH's IFC The UH Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity faced allegations of reports of theft and violations of UH alcohol policy in August. After an Interfraternity Council hearing, TKE was barred from participating in most IFC events for the academic year, levied a $ 1000 fine and suspended from the UH Intramural Sports Greek league for two semesters. In October, IFC accepted TKE's resignation. The fraternity was then no longer bound by IFC rules or able to participate in any IFC events. The Dean of Students office and the Department of Campus Activities launched their own investigation into the allegations of theft and drinking in January. The investigation ended with the suspension of TKE as a student organization from the university. • compiled by staff "laAinf to speech James Robertson Jr. gives his report before the SGA.
