Transcript a/mess; CW& ^ Iwij/ Students work together and Make New Friends with Intramurals i^»y 4ie teams' entries ^~fs)went into a \_S drawing for a free league sport entry for the next season. Most of the events take place on Garrison courts, Melcher courts and in the field behind Wendy's. What makes intramural sports even more Intramurals and club sports are open to everyone. There are women's teams, men's teams and co-ed teams. Many fraternities and sororities take part in these activities, but a student doesn't have to be a member of the greek system to have a team or to compete. To exciting is that there are keep up with what's actual championships. happening with all the Students want their athletic dreams to come true, and intramurals does its best to see that it happens. Flag football is one of the more popular sports, along with basketball, where teams can compete for championship titles. There are also club sports, which are not so competitive and are made up of such activities as aerobics. c€lose<^all Softball team Standard Deviationplays Total Chaos in close game. The Weekly Competitor helps to keep all the players and fans informed about what's happening in the world of intramurals. It's also a great tool to help recruit more students into playing intramurals. Another interesting fact about intramurals at UH is where the money comes from that helps support intramurals, since entry fees are definitely not enough. Student fees and equipment donated by various companies has helped to keep intramurals and club sports going at the University of Houston. In the end intramurals is not about how much money is spent or who participates in what; it's all about having a good time and getting involved in something that's not your usual organization. • by Linda Canales 64 • STUDEIYr LIFE inTRAIhURAL SPORTS 65
