Transcript Ivo/O/iln/f c m STUDENTS BRING THE' f ATER AND DANCE TO UH COMMUNITY f-x * I hen the house 1/1/lightsgo W W down and the stage lights come up, excitement fills the room in anticipation of the School of Theater's newest production. This year students from the UH School of Theater performed four major plays for the enjoyment of students, faculty, staff and the Houston community. The Last Night of Ballyhoo, by Alfred Uhry, was the first of these productions in October. It was the winner of the 1997 Tony Award for Best Play. The School of Theater also performed The King Stag in November and Three but the dance division of the school has its own performances. For their spring dance concert the division of dance of the School of Theatre decided to perform Southern Routes. For the event, facul- penny Opera in the spring. The Hothouse was the last production performed in April. One of the biggest events for the School of Theater is participating in the Houston Shakespeare Festival in the fall. Some of the dances were the work of such UH dance directed by Sidney Berger, and The Taming of the Shrew, faculty as Karen Stokes directed by Ben and Dwight Shelton. Sanford, were performed at the Miller Outdoor Theatre.
